Palmyra, VA - Over 3 million people every year fall victim work-at-home scams. Most if not all of these people could have avoided losing their money and their hopes of working at home with some simple research. According to work-at-home consultant, Leslie Truex aka The Pajama Mama, \"Most people who lose money trying to work from home get in to trouble because they don\'t know how to evaluate and investigate work-at-home opportunities.\" Truex reports that learning how to read work-at-home ads as well as how to investigate the opportunities presented is extremely important, but not always easy to do. \"Scam artists tend to be good copywriters. They are able to get work-at-home wannabees excited at the hype and ignore the fact that there is no substance or consider that the ad contains false information.\"
Truex offers these steps to evaluate work-at-home opportunities:
1) If the opportunity is for a \"job\" and asks for money, it\'s a scam so don\'t bother. 2) Verify claims made in the ad such as awards, television or magazine reviews and research. Many ads will supply misleading or even intruthful information. 3) Read the fine print for things like hidden charges, refund directions, and disclaimers. You\'d be surprised at how many people sign up for things without reading all the details. And its usually where most people get in trouble. Desceptive programs will hide their true actions such as automatica withdrawls or limited refund options in the fine print. But even with legitmage programs there can be things like specific refund policy or autoship features that you need you need to understand so reading all the materials before signing on the dotted line is extremely important. 4) Get feedback through discussion groups online. Many people who yell \"scam\" are often those who fail to do #3. But, in many cases you can learn about other people\'s experiences. If they are all negative, then you know the program is probably not worth your time. If the reviews are mixed, you want to pay attention to why it works for some and not for others and determine which group best represents you.
